Jesse Helms died...Isn't that redundant?

Unfortunately, no. Almost every other day I encounter people with Jesse's mindset, who would happily delegate myself and all the people I care about to their version of Hell, simply because we are not their kind.

Even still, I don't wish Hell for Jesse. Don't get me wrong, I've got a hankering for revenge as much as anyone who lived during Jesse's era. But dishing out revenge for my personal satisfaction would make me no better than he or his ilk.

If I believed in reincarnation or spiritual justice, I would rather that Jesse return as someone he wouldn't have wanted to be. And I'd wish him to be happy. There's already too much pain in the world.

QUICK COMMENT: Congratulations to Ruth Berman, one of The Lady Poetesses From Hell, for winning the 2009 MNSCBWI Poetry Contest! http://www.minnesotascbwi.org/

I'm writing it! REALLY I am!

Bloggers who update on a regular basis (i.e. weekly, daily, hourly) must have:

A. Lottery winnings or a Trust Fund
B. Support from a partner/spouse/significant other/parental unit/guardian/blackmail
C. Unobservant managers/supervisors
D. More bloody free time than I've got

I blame my long delay in updating on:

* Doing the Working Poor thing at my new job at the airport. What job at which airport? well you may ask. If I go into detail, I won't be able to closely observe the behavior of the Republicans and their acolytes, when they come through for their national convention and believe no members of the media are about...and on the behavior of Members of the Media, who never seem to think they're being observed. 'Cuz we all jus' th' "help," y'know.

* I'm writing the proposal for my book, which my amazingly patient agent has been waiting for

* Due to overexposure to poets at WisCon '08, I became infected. Severely. I have actually taken to writing poetry. Never fear, it shall not be inflicted upon the innocent. However, those who are to blame -- Rebecca Marjesdatter and Terry A. Garey, both members of The Lady Poetesses From Hell --- are getting a snootfull.

* I taped a commentary for Marketplace. Unfortunately, my editor hasn't found a spot when it can be aired yet. If you would like to hear it, and more commentaries from me, please contact Marketplace and say:

Dear Sirs and Madams, we would like so very much to hear more of Moira Manion on your program, as she really and truly knows what it is to be Working Poor in a Tough Economy, as opposed to those who studied about it at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, or one of those rather nice Midwest universities, but who've never actually lived paycheck to paycheck and had overdraft fees and eviction notices and no health insurance, or eatten ramen noodles from the food shelf for two months straight. Love and kisses and promises to send a check during the next Pledge Drive.

I will be getting a whole day off from work in the near future! And then The Feminist & Al Franken will really and truly be finished! Golly gee, aren't you just holding your breath?

Until then, please amuse yourself by visiting these links:

QUICK COMMENT 1: Senator Obama, I have five words for you. Seperation of Church and State.

QUICK COMMENT 2: July 4th, George "is our children learning" W. visits the home of Thomas "We the People" Jefferson. Oh, how we have fallen. And I say this even with Jefferson having been a slave owner.
